Saranda is a dense forest in the hilly regions of Jharkhand. The forest is situated at a height of 2000 ft and there are 700 hills in this area. The serene forests, hills, rivers, waterfalls and wild animals make Saranda, a nature lover's paradise. There are two hamlets on these hills - Kiriburu and Meghharaburu. These are inhabited by local tribal people.
Getting There
The nearest railway station is Ghatshila which lies on the Howrah-Mumbai main line. Buses are available from there to Badojamda. From Badojamda you can hire jeeps to reach Kiriburu.
Staying There
There are 3 forest bungalows in Saranda Forest - Thalkobad, Saraikella and Tirinposi. To obtain permit to roam around in the forest contact : District Forest Officer, PO-Chaibasa, Singhbhum, Jharkhand-833201. Apart from these there are some hotels and lodges at Saranda.
